The name of APC chieftain and former chairman of the Ruling party is in the news again. Mr Oyeniyi Akande, who was appointed as the Chairman, Governing Council of the College of Education, Ila-Orangun was said to be involved in series of acts of corruptions, with lately, the forgery of the College’s Registrar identity and signature to press home vindictiveness and parochial tendencies.
Three years ago, Mr Niyi Akande was appointed by Governor Aregbesola to head the Governing Board of the College. According to our source, the APC chieftain’s brother has since seen it as part of his own opportunity to live big without recourse to the policy, code of conduct and edict governing the activities of the college.
Recently, the same Mr Niyi Akande, chief Bisi Akande’s blood brother, arrested leaders of staff unions of the college, after he has stopped their statutory allowances and unilaterally sacked 84 contract members of staff in November 2015 and additional 72 permanent workers of the college in January, 2016 (for no just cause) with a threat to sack more.
It will be recalled that his brother, Chief Bisi Akande sacked thousands of workers in his regime as Governor of Osun State, thus sending many workers to their early graves, same is repeating itself with his brother at the helm of affairs in the college.
Recent development getting to us is the case of forgery of the Registrar’s signature and identity by Niyi Akande and Prof. Isaac Oyewole (the Provost) to further indict the leadership of the staff unions and other members of staff. The Registrar has since written a disclaimer against the forged petition submitted to the Commissioner of Police. This case of impersonation is been investigated by police and EFCC.
The man in question is a brother of a national leader of APC.
