As an accountant and a preacher I understand ASSET to be anything that provide a future economic benefit. It also represent value of ownership.
What selling our National Asset mean to me:
1. Selling our future.
2. Giving away the generation after us.
3. Selling our birth right for a morsel of bread.
4. Eating our future in the present.
No good father sells the family land to eat bread. Landed property are assets left by ancestors to successive generations. The bible said “A good man leaves inheritance for his children and children’s children”. If our ancestors had sold them, what would have become of us today? How then do you ask us to sell our future because we are hungry? What are we going to leave for our children after us. We are not Esau who sold his birth right just for a plate of food. The same birth right that his future hung on. He sold his birth right so cheaply to meet temporary need of hunger, aren’t we treading the part of Esau? How much will our National Asset worth in this time of recession?
Who are those asking us to sell our National Assets? The rich, those who will go behind us and buy same, those who their future and that of their children are already secured by our common resources, those who have bought us and want to further enslaved us. We know them! Why do they want us to sell our future to them? If they have enough money to buy our National Assets then they have enough to help us out of recession.
Will selling our National Assets bring us out of trouble permanently or temporarily? Food for thought!
Hebrews 12:16-17 KJV
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
We dont want to be fornicators and profane generation.
Our future is more important to us than our stomach.
We don’t want to be a rejected generation.
We don’t want our children to curse us for eating up our future.
We don’t want to cry in our old age.
I join my voice to millions of Nigerians masses who are saying NO TO SALE OF NATIONAL ASSET.
