The ‘Change Begins With Me Campaign’ recently lynched by President Muhammadu Buhari is receiving endorsements from more Nigerians.
The Osun state government, students and youths at the weekend joined millions of Nigerians to embrace the campaign.
Speaking during a campaign March organised by Good Morning Media, Publishers of The Nigerian Online Newspaper to create awareness on the relevance of the campaign, Osun state governor, said there was need for all Nigerians to join hands in building the nation.
The representative of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, apologised on behalf of the Governor for his inability to receive the team due to other state functions outside the State.
He commended the organisers of the walk for being the torch bearers of the “Change begins with Me” campaign, which is a process of National reorientation with a direct effect on the future of the youth.
While commending the initiative of the NigerianOnline Newspapers to take the message of “Change” to every nook and cranny of the State irrespective of political or ethnic affiliations.
He advised the organizers to spread the campaign to other parts of the country particularly at the grassroot level in order to ensure that we collectively build the nation of our dream together without over reliance on the government.
The almost 5km walk which began at the popular Ola Iya junction in Osogbo terminated at the Governor’s Office, Osogbo where the participants were received by the Permanent Secretary in the Osun State Ministry of Youth Developments, Dr. Ade Aluko.
During the walk, participants engaged passer byes and use the process to do a clean up along the main road leading to the city where the walk took through.
Speakers such as Comrade Salami Abiodun of the Nigeria Youth Organisation, Osun State chapter, Sylvanus Bewaji, Student Union leader and Nwokedi Samuel a Youth Corp member spoke on the determination of the Students and Youth to be the Change Nigeria requires by ensuring that attitudinal changes begin on the campuses and our immediate communities.
Participants at the event received branded t-shirts as “Good Citizens Ambassadors” of the country and were charged to always ensure that they do the thing at all times. They were admonished that Nigeria is beyond any individual person no matter how highly placed and that the sovereignty of our country must remain paramount in our day to day activities like citizens of other great nations like the United States of America.
