A group, Arewa Youth Leaders for Development and Change has accused the national leader of the APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu of being behind what it described as blackmail of the Chief of Staff to President, Mr Abba Kyari in order to get at President Muhammadu Buhari.
National President, Abubakar Abubabakar who briefed journalists in Kaduna accused Tinubu of sponsoring various reports on some online platforms with the intent of blackmailing the chief of staff, Alhaji Abba Kyari and Mallam MaMman DAURA
He also said the attacks on Kyari which sought to create the impression that Abba Kyari is corrupt is actually targeted at rubbushing President Buhari’s anti-corruption war.
He said, “our thought had been that these were unjustified attacks on an achiever out of spite but these online portals and its associates added Mr President’s nephew, Mamman Daura to its target. Like Kyari, Daura has been repeatedly falsely accused of corruption and meddlesomeness in state affairs.
“After painstaking efforts to understand the nature and intent of these attacks, we came to realise that Kyari and Daura are pawns on the board for people who want to get at President Muhammadu Buhari for selfish reasons.
“Trying to link both men to corruption is meant to: Rubbish Mr President’s antic-corruption efforts by making it appear as if he condones wrongdoing from his trusted aides and family members; Blackmail him to firing those that genuinely have his interest at heart while clearing the way for those sponsoring these attacks
We want to categorically state that we now know those paying these agents to lie against good men.
“A national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is at the centre of the nefarious activities to bring down both men and all those close to President Buhari. His grouse is that he is still smarting from not being the one to make every single appointment made by Mr President.”
He slamed the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir David Lawal of allowing their offices to lend legitimacy to questionable information so that it appears as if the lies being reported are facts.
He said, “Anyone that has issues with President Muhammadu Buhari advised to be bold enough to man up and approach him to table their demands instead of this unconscionable subterfuge of getting into bed with what has definitely proven itself as the most noxious online platform.
“We use this opportunity to warn Tinubu, Lawal, Magu and Sahara Reporters to desist from these attacks or accept any legitimate actions we decide to take as a consequence of their lies.”
