The former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, who recently arrived Nigeria from his base in the United States to respond to an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in relation to N4.75bn arms funds traced to him, has been detained by the anti-graft agency.

Obanikoro arrived from the United States enroute Amsterdam and flew straight to Abuja to honour an earlier invitation by the EFCC.

The former Minister is being investigated along with a firm a firm, Sylvan McNamara, belonging to two of his sons, Babajide and Gbolahan, for receiving N4.75bn arms funds from the office of the former National Security Adviser between April 4, 2014, and December 15, 2014.
