There are strong indications that the Nigerian Presidency is allegedly plotting to tear down the country’s first lady, Aisha Buhari over her outburst in the viral interview granted to BBC in which she said she might not support her husband’s reelection bid in 2019, if he decides to run.
Mrs. Buhari, in the interview, suggested that her husband’s government had been hijacked by a “few people” who were behind presidential appointments.
She said the president did not know most of those he had appointed to various positions.
Global Village Extra has now learned that a meeting had taken place inside the Villa where the idea of defaming and tearing down the wife of the president was allegedly discussed.
Sources close to the Presidency confided in Global Village Extra that, “the story would be framed like this; ‘for a long time the President has kept a tab on Aisha, who is alleged to be keeping nocturnal relationship with one AVM Mohammed, one Emir, and another young lover (name withheld)’, they have no evidence to support this claim.
“They will also claim that PMB, ‘in accordance with Islamic injunction, has allegedly divorced Aisha twice in what is known in Hausa parlance as sheki Biyu’. There’s also no fact to back the claim up.”
According to the source, the relationship between the president and Aisha took another dimension recently when Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff, the former governor of Borno state, an in -law to Buhari, who has been longing to meet with Buhari, was allegedly in connivance with Aisha and her daughter Zahra, without the knowledge of the president, allowed into the Villa. An act which caught the president unawares.
The source also disclosed that a security report sent to President Buhari which showed that the wife of the president recently acquired a property at high brow area of Asokoro, Abuja, at the princely sum of N3.8b, while 1billion was traced to Zahra’s account would be mentioned.
Global Village Extra cannot independently confirm the property report, or the money traced to Zahra’s account.
Our source continued, “The discovery was said to have provoked Buhari, who before his trip to Germany, invited Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC boss to the Villa, with the mandate to look into the report and trace the source of the money.”
In the meeting with Magu, according to the source, President Buhari indicated his desire to sack minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, his Chief staff, Abba Kyari, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Babachir, and to have his media chief announce series of other appointments while in Germany.
“But the information got to the Wife, who immediately left for United Kingdom, where she granted that interview.”
Continued the source said: “Imagine if the announcement of the sack of Kayiri, Fashola, and Babachir were made after her interview, Aisha would have been proved right. That was why the President delayed the sack action until his return from Germany.”
Buhari, has on Friday directed the police to investigate Kyari, for his alleged involvement in the MTN scam.
But the source claimed that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who was in Uk when Aisha granted the interview is also being fingered as a major factor why Aisha made the remark.
For a while now, Tinubu has accused PMB of appointing individuals who were not part of the struggle to wrestle power out of the hands of the PDP while neglecting APC sponsors.
Mrs. Buhari made news last week in the UK when she claimed in an interview with the BBC that her husbands government have been hijacked and that only four to six people that really started the journey with the ruling party are in the system.
