Nollywood diva Genevieve Nnaji has gone astray and the evidence is not hard to find: It is found in the accompanying photo taken at last weekend in Lagos, South-West Nigeria.
Genny, as the famous actress, model but failed singer is fondly called by her millions of admirers, simply threw decency to the wind as she went to the event in a flowing gown with a heavily split upper area that showcased her flabby breasts. What is more, Genevieve, an unwed mother who had a daughter as a teenager, did not even bother to wear a bra!
Tongues have been wagging since top blogger Linda Ikeji published the photo that soon when viral on social media. Comments have been largely negative, with many predicting that Genevieve who has been an actress since age eight will live to regret dressing like this in a conservative society like Nigeria.
Kenny Adewole, an Abuja-based public affairs analyst, noted that Genevieve “has over exposed what is meant to be covered to the general public!” while Afam B. C. Nnaji, a Lagos-based webmaster and commentator on public affairs, said: “I guess she doesn’t have genuine and real friends otherwise they would have advised her against wearing what she put on. This is beyond fashion. She wasn’t even showing just the cleavage but more, can’t justify this at all.”
On her part, Uche Esther Udeagha Amunike, a media worker in Lagos, said: I don’t want to sound judgmental or holier-than-thou, but I seriously think our actresses’ sense of dressing has left much to b desired. Since when has being half nude become a yardstick for measuring fame? Since when has acting indecent and near-pornographic roles become a stepping stone to greatness? Genevieve is a pretty girl. She’s a great actress. She’s smart, bold, and beautiful. She’s successful. She’s made. But you know what? No sane man wants a woman who has bared it all on screen!! Especially not Ibo men!!!”
