Members of the much talked-about new mega party, ADP, on Wednesday thronged the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Abuja, to formally apply for registration as a political party.
Members of Action Democratic Party stormed INEC around at 1pm, in a long convoy of cars, drumming and dancing in jubilation. They were led by their pro tem national chairman, Engr. Yagbayi Sani and other interim officers, who were seen with volumes of documents seeking to be recognized as ADP.
Sani and some of the executives entered INEC’s premises while the rest waited outside, jubilating.
“We are here to celebrate democracy with fun fare and not to cause havoc, we are sorry if we have broken any protocol,” Sani said, “having complied with all the constitutional requirements for registration as a full-fledged political party by INEC, including interim structures in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT, Abuja, today we are making history by submitting our documents formally and a few of our members decided to join us to this place.”
Emerging afterwards, he said the party has a good chance of being recognized and approved by INEC.
